Div Com reviews Muharram-ul-Haram arrangements | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNO): In view of forthcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Thursday chaired a meeting of officers to ensure hassle-free and peaceful observance of religious occasions and to facilitate mourners. Besides DIG Police Rajiv Pandey, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, officers of line departments and representatives of various associations of Shia community. Addressing the meeting, Div Com directed officers for repairing and macademization of roads in Shia dominated areas to ensure pothole-free routes for mourners' procession. He also directed civil departments including PHE and KPDCL to ensure delivery of uninterrupted services during the Muharram days. He instructed deployment of water tankers to supplement the demand of drinking water to the areas inhabited by the community. Div Com instructed the concerned to provide adequate quantity of firewood, and also ensure distribution of sufficient ration to the community. Bidhuri enjoined the concerned to launch special sanitation drives around Imam Baras and procession sites to ensure cleanliness and facilitate mourners. He asked the health department for deployment of medical teams along with ambulances to provide proper medical assistance to mourners. To ensure law & order, Div Com emphasized on making fool-proof security arrangements and proper route plan for smooth vehicular movement. Meanwhile, he urged that all arrangements should be put in place well in time to ensure all religious gatherings and processions are held smoothly and peacefully—(KNO)
